Overactive Bladder (OAB)

OAB is a condition characterized by a sudden, uncontrollable urge to urinate, often with increased frequency and sometimes leakage, not caused by infection or other diseases.

Symptoms: Frequent urinating during the day, nocturia (night-time urination), urgency with or without urge incontinence (leakage).

Management: Behavioral therapies such as bladder training, pelvic floor muscle exercises, scheduled voiding, reducing bladder irritants like caffeine, and weight control help manage symptoms. Fluid intake management and timed voiding can reduce urgency and frequency. Long-term approaches focus on retraining the bladder to improve control and reduce involuntary contractions.
