Dalia Khichadi
- Soaked Broken wheat/dalia (soak for 1 hour) - 1/4 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans), finely chopped - 1/4 cup
- Tomato, finely chopped - 1 small
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Grated ginger - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Ghee or oil - 1 teaspoon
Note: 1 cup = 200 ml, ½ cup = 100 ml, 1 tsp = 5 gm, 1 tbsp = 15 gm
*tsp = teaspoon, tbsp = tablespoon
- Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker.
- Add cumin seeds and grated ginger.
- Sauté mixed vegetables and tomato for 2-3 minutes.
- Add soaked broken wheat (dalia), 1/2 cup water, and salt.
- Close the lid, cook on medium heat for 2 whistles.
- Let pressure release naturally, open the lid carefully.
- Garnish with coriander leaves if desired.
- Serve hot.
Broken wheat (dalia) is high in fiber, aiding digestion and relieving constipation. Mixed vegetables add additional fiber and nutrients essential for digestion.
