Kitchen Cures: Healing the Natural Way with Grandma’s Wisdom

1. ACID REFLUX
The burning sensation of acid reflux can be quite uncomfortable. Whether it’s that spicy street food or a heavy dinner, acid reflux can hit you out of nowhere. But no worries! Try these home remedies to get relief.
Remedies:
- Buttermilk with Black Salt: A glass of chilled buttermilk with a pinch of black salt helps neutralize stomach acid and soothes the lining of the stomach.
- Ginger Tea: Boil 1 inch of fresh ginger root in water for 10 minutes and sip slowly. Ginger has gastroprotective properties that help reduce acidity.
- Chew Fennel Seeds (Saunf): Fennel seeds contain anethole, which can relax the stomach muscles and help reduce bloating and acidity
2. SORE THROAT
Remedies:
- Turmeric Milk (Haldi Doodh): Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of warm milk. Drink before bedtime for soothing relief.
- Honey and Ginger Syrup: Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of ginger juice. Take it twice a day. Honey has proven antibacterial properties.
- Saltwater Gargle: Mix half a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle twice a day to reduce inflammation.
3. FLATULENCE
Remedies:
- CCF Tea (Cumin, Coriander, Fennel): Boil 1 teaspoon each of cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds in 2 cups of water for 5–7 minutes. Strain and sip warm. This tea helps to improve digestion and reduce gas.
- Carom Seeds (Ajwain): Chew half a teaspoon of carom seeds with a pinch of black salt. Ajwain contains thymol, which helps in digestion.
- Hing Water (Asafoetida): Dissolve a pinch of hing in warm water and drink after meals. It helps reduce gas and improves digestion.
4. JOINT PAIN
Remedies:
- Turmeric and Black Pepper Mix: Combine 1 teaspoon of turmeric with a pinch of black pepper and warm water. Curcumin in turmeric has potent anti-inflammatory effects, enhanced by black pepper
- Fenugreek Seeds (Methi): Soak 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight and consume in the morning. Fenugreek has anti-inflammatory properties.
- Garlic Paste (Lahsun): Apply a paste of crushed garlic cloves mixed with a little mustard oil to the affected area for pain relief. Garlic contains allicin, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
5. INSOMNIA
Remedies:
- Warm Milk with Nutmeg (Jaiphal): Add a pinch of nutmeg to a glass of warm milk. Nutmeg contains compounds that promote sleep
- Ashwagandha Milk: Mix a teaspoon of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm milk and drink before bed. Ashwagandha helps reduce stress and promotes restful sleep.
- Saffron Milk (Kesar Doodh): Add a few strands of saffron to warm milk and drink before bedtime for a calming effect.
